RFID Smart Badging vs. Facial Recognition: A Guide to Large-Scale Event Access

The 9:00 AM Registration Crunch

Most event producers know the scene: thousands of delegates arrive in the same half hour, QR codes fail to scan on dim phone screens, badge printers jam, and the opening keynote starts late.

Your registration gates are the front door of your brand. Friction there sets the tone for the whole day, which is why modern events move to fast, contactless entry.

When to Choose RFID Smart Badging

High-frequency RFID and NFC (13.56 MHz) remains the workhorse for trade exhibitions, consumer festivals and large technical conclaves. The same object-recognition technology powers the smart cubes TECTIX built for Google.

Badges can be posted in advance or issued at self-service kiosks. Delegates tap at entry gates, sponsor stations and session doors, and organisers get attendance data without any camera hardware.

When to Choose Facial Recognition

For VIP investor days, high-security summits and government conclaves, opt-in facial recognition offers a premium experience. Registered guests share a photo in advance; on arrival, a camera recognises them as they approach.

A welcome screen greets them by name and they walk straight in — no badge to lose or lend. Guests who prefer not to opt in use a badge or QR code instead.

Privacy under India’s DPDP Act

Facial recognition is opt-in only. Before the event we agree with the client what consent guests give, what is stored, where it is processed and how long it is kept — and we design the system to hold as little personal data as possible.
